struggling to get that hair just right?
the Pointe of my life

Class hair;
do's and don'ts for everyday class hair...

DO wear a bun.  Even if you can get away with a ponytail or a half-up, a bun really is better, and you'll find it much easier to dance, especially when it's time for turns!

DO use bobby pins!  They may be a pain sometimes, but they will hold your hair up well!

DO pin back bangs.  Those bangs that are super-cute most of the time are a definate disadvantage in class, so pin them back!  If you are tired of boring bobby pins, try some fun clips!

DON'T worry about style.  It's okay to be cute, but a good solid bun is the best place to start.  If you want to add a fun flair, try colorful hair clips and headbands.

DON'T leave anything in your face.  It may look nice, but it won't be fun to have to be flipping your hair out of your face in the middle of a dance.

Performance hair;
A couple of ways to make sure your hairstyle lasts through the performance...

try combing gel through your hair before putting it up, instead of just smearing it on top.

use a hairnet!  they really hold up your bun great, and keep frizzies to a minimum.

don't skimp on the bobby pins.  you may be able to get away with just a couple for class, but use plenty for performances!

have a friend make sure your ponytail is centered BEFORE you wind it into a bun...it'll save alot of re-doing!

get several kinds of bobby pins.  straight ones will hold your bun well.  if you have thick hair, try extra-long ones.  use curved ones to pin back bangs or hold up "baby curls" at the nape of your neck.

Your hair makes a difference in how you dance, so make sure you do a good job on it!
