Struggling to balance health and weight?
A few things that have been helpful for me...

Make sure you keep eating!  If you have to be anorexic to be as thin as you'd like, then YOU SHOULDN'T BE THAT THIN!  Everyone is built differently.  Some people just aren't meant to be as thin as others!

Exercise!  Regular excercise will not only keep you thin, it will increase your stamina!  Excercise is probably the biggest factor in keeping trim and fit.

Don't try to eat fewer calories just by stopping eating desserts!  Changing your basic diet to be healthier may give you the same surface results, but you'll find that eating healthy, balanced meals will not only let you lose weight, but feel better, have more energy, and you'll still be able to eat the occasional dessert!

DO NOT starve yourself!!!  If you just stop eating, your body goes into "survival mode."  You will actually burn less calories!  The absolute minimum, for a reasonably active person, is 1500 calories a day.  And most people need more than that!

Don't go to extremes on your diet.  For most people, if they havn't severely abused their body with past dietary habits, a balanced diet is the best!  Low-carb can be good, but don't cut it out all together!  Instead, choose complex carbs and whole grains.  The food pyramid may seem good at first, but you need that protein!  Don't eat tons of bread, and skimp on the meat and dairy.  Being vegetarian has it's advantages, but make sure you are getting protein other ways!  DON'T go on diets that have you eating just one thing all the time!  Balance is the key to healthy eating.

Stress is one of the biggest things that makes you gain weight!  So don't stress out about losing weight.  RELAX!  Eat healthy, balanced meals three times a day, do regular aerobic and cardio excercise, and you'll be doing great!

One of my favorite recipes:

Strawberry-Orange protein smoothie
all these are estimated amounts...

5 or 6 frozen strawberries

1/4 cup orange juice

1/2 + cup milk (amount will vary depending on how much liquid your blender needs)

1 scoop protein powder or shake mix

and(this is what makes it reaaaaally good)a teaspoon OR LESS (don't put to much!) of creme de menthe(or other mint flavoring)

Directions are pretty simple: toss it all in the blender!  And eat it with a piece of 100 percent whole wheat toast, since milk and grain make a complete protein!
Mmmmm, yummy yummy!

Mmmm, Mmmmm, tofu!

this is a very simple recipe that I found and have modified slightly over the years...

1 pkg. extra firm tofu
soy sauce
nutitional yeast or wheat germ
olive oil

Cut tofu into thick(half inch) slices.  Dip in soy sauce.  I suggest holding it over a paper towel to let it drip for a minute.  Then cover with yeast or wheat germ(I prefer the latter).  Then put into frying pan of hot oil.  Fry until the tofu is golden brown and the wheat germ is dark brown.  Enjoy!  WARNING: this smells terrible when you cook it!  Don't do it on a rainy day, when the windows are closed!  But it tastes great...

Fun and funky salad ingredients
tired of boring salads?  try adding some fun with one of these...

tofu try crumbling tofu almost like feta cheese; it tastes great and adds some fun texture!

spinach mixing in spinach with lettuce will make your salad tastier, and you'll be getting some great nutritional benefits!

bell peppers add some fun crunch and color!

sunflower seeds  not only do they taste good, they add protein!

cucumber slices add cool texture and flavor!

Remember: there are advantages in the ballet world to being thin, but you are beautiful just the way you are!  Don't let anyone tell you differently!
